Tesla will not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who, in good faith, wants to use our technology.

As part of the open source movement, Tesla does not want to lead any patent litigation, provided that the patents are used “in good faith”. This leaves much room for interpretation and we must wait out whether Tesla will implement this announcement into action. 

Currently, the ratio of electric cars is limited to less than 1% of all vehicles sold. In this present year, Musk longs to double the sales of his company. Last year, 24,000 cars of the electric car specialists have been sold worldwide.

The goal is to make electric cars more competitive to internal combustion engines. If manufacturers provide affordable electric cars, immediate effects would be the expansion of infrastructure while simultaneously increasing Tesla’s market potential.
